And then my manager sent me through the one-sheet for this character, which at the time was called Poochie. Harmon: Luke was one of several young men that had to audition. Countee: We got the sense that this character was going to be one that we were going to want to keep around after we cast Luke. But I did something right because I booked the job. And I was so surprised when they called me back to be on the show again.
Youngblood: The second episode that I did was so funny. But it was great to be able to take his character a bit further in the series. Harmon: At some point, we had to give Magnitude a birthdate. He tells them that a key he borrowed from the administrations office had been inside his backpack which was stolen while he was in the restroom.
He later watches along with the rest of his Biology classmates Jeff and Annie prosecute Todd for the crime in a trial held in the Biology classroom. In the study group's fourth year at Greendale, Magnitude is brought in by them and Dean Pelton to assist in recruiting a new student. He is named Archie DeCoste and is the scion of a wealthy family who could potentially be a source of major funding for the school. Magnitude helps to liven up a party held in Archie's honor and delivers his catchphrase and raise the roof gesture.
Archie then demands to the Dean that the signature gesture of be his now and Pelton summarily tells Magnitude that he is no longer allowed to do that any more. Magnitude then spends the night desperately trying to figure out a replacement catchphrase. When Annie and Pelton see how distressed he has become, Pelton confronts Archie about his attitude and lifts the ban he placed on Magnitude.
In a flashback to the year , it's revealed Magnitude was at the party where Annie ran through a plate glass window. Her actions caused two balloons to pop one right after the other, which led to Magnitude coming up with his signature catchphrase. In the study group's fifth year together at Greendale, Annie learns that the grade of "A minus" is a way for the teachers to mess with the students.
She tells the rest of the student body inside the library , including Magnitude, and a riot ensues. Magnitude then throws a book through Group Study Room F 's window and yells his signature catchphrase.

During the filming of " Chief Starr and the Raiders of the Galaxy ", Magnitude plays a "carrot assassin" complete with a carrot laser sent to kill Chief Starr in a bar resembling the Cantina from "Star Wars". Chief Starr kills him with two laser shots and Magnitude collapses on a couch.
There was no reasoning for why the particular scene was cut. Magnitude was still shown to be participating in the campus-wide game of Hot Lava, but he was never on the brink of unveiling his true identity.
Interestingly enough, another compelling scene featuring Magnitude was cut from Community season 3. This sequence was filmed and still exists in the show's deleted scenes.
The scene came during "Documentary Filmmaking: Redux" when Abed Nadir Danny Pudi filmed a documentary following the development of the new school commercial. Magnitude was used in the commercial to highlight the catchphrase before his involvement was expanded on through an interview as part of Abed's documentary. The student then revealed how miserable he truly was in trying to keep up with his popular persona. Magnitude claimed he invented " pop, pop!
These cut Community details would have added more layers to the memorable figure, but seeing as Magnitude was only a supporting character, it made sense why they weren't featured.
